Mezzotint portrait of Sir William Parsons, baronet (c.1570-1650) by Paul [?Samuel De Wilde, who produced a series of etchings and mezzotint engravings under the pseudonym of ‘Paul’ from about 1770 to 1777]. Titled: 'Sr. Wm. Parsons, Vide Clarendon'. Handwritten in ink: 'the plate distroyed' [sic.]. Verso in pencil, written by Mr Fairclough: 'Sir W. Parsons, Lord Justice of Ireland. Formed plantations in Ulster, Wexford, Antrim. See Clar. - removal from office as Ld. Chief Justice in Ireland.'
